will check and report back tomorrow [QUOTE=Tom K.;10833617][quote=KwlAznKid;10832519]hi guys, 2. i was probably playing for bout 2-3 minutes (car was off but key was in) i got a message that said LOW BATTERY and on the dash it showed a picture of the car battery where the temp is usually shown. i got scared and turned the car off and the on right away to test the battery.. it turned on

As far as I have red in forums, I have come to several possible causes of lack of power which might be related either to bad fuel supply or bad air supply: 1. Bad MAF sensor, so engine might not be able to calculate correct amount of air entering the combustion chambers; 2. Vacuum leak or bad DISA valve, allowing less air to enter the chambers Once the (BMW specific) codes are known here are some other areas to check. 1.Disconnect blue IBS connection in the battery box and attempt to restart. 2. Disconnect MAF sensor and attempt to start. 3. Inspect/Test all fuses related to engine and fuel pump (engine) 4,11,12,16,17,37,38,39,70,89 (fuel pump) 33,67,70. The first guy's diagnosis had the following findings. -1. REPLACE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - $1,687.04 (labor)Technician performed fault tracing and found the following codesstored:EGS:56C5 Shift valve B: stuck in off position56BF Clutch, gears 1,2,3 and 4: neutral testCleared codes and test drove, both faults returned. As the relay is the cheap bit I would replace it first, if the replacement energises then either the starter or possibly the CAS unit has a fault. The Magneti Marelli starter on my first X5 failed first symptoms were slow cranking even with a charged battery, then battery drain issues. Good spot Dave

My car keeps telling me that they Key FOB's battery is low but I've replaced it with a new battery (twice now to see if it would make a difference) and it still says the same thing.
I drove out in the E39 with a freshly-charged battery in the trunk. I dropped the battery into Kugel, and with some coaxing, the car started up. One of the basic electrical checkups you can do in a car is to use a multimeter to measure the resting voltage—the voltage across the battery terminals with the car off. It should be about 12.6 volts.
www.bimmerfest.com. FIRST Steps: 1) Get Diagnostic Software that can allow YOU, with Forum help, to diagnose the condition yourself, as discussed in DETAIL in post #7 in this thread, OR. 2) Find a shop that will take the time (AND YOUR MONEY ;-) to do proper diagnosis with proper Tools.

i see you have not had your battery die, warning icons come up on the dash in the form of a battery advising battery is low. I had this happen for a few weeks before I had mine changed. my car is an 07, OP 4-5 years might be the average lifespan. another point, I had to have mine upgraded and coded in properly.

It really depends on how long your new battery has been sitting on a shelf. IIRC there is a point in which a battery has sat for too long and won't hold a charge. You've already gone above and beyond with replacing the starter. If the jump works, drive the car for or let it idle for an hour or so.
Solved. MAP sensor/ pressure sensor. I’ve never seen a fault code like this. Charge plausibility, diagnosis, cold-start strategy bank 2. ISTA prompted me to run a test on MAF (MAP sensors) , and throttle actuators. MAF / intake pipe tested OK. Both actuators appear to have load faults. I did not have battery charging during this process.
iTrader: ( 73) your battery may be dying now. 1. you will start getting the warning messages. 2. you'll notice your clock, idrive brightness etc starting to resets everyday. If you're sure that you drive enough every day with your M but getting the messages, you may want to look into replacing your battery. __________________.
Concerning my battery age, i don't really know, i bought the car used almost 3 years ago and never replaced the battery, so i have no idea, it's the 80AH 800A BMW AGM. I measured the voltage of my battery (resting in the basement, just 100% charged, unplugged, measured at 12.65V yesterday afternoon) this morning, and it's displaying 12.50V

If you get a low reading at the battery and want to rule out a wiring fault, then proceed to measure at the alternator as well to verify. Yes, charging voltage. Which due to the IBS system in your car can be anywhere from 13.x to 15.x V at idle. Anything below 13.x is most likely a dead alternator.

Got my low battery symbol at about the same time as you KT, & it's been a street fight with my dealer ever since. "Are you driving enough?", "You need a trickle charger", "You aren't shutting down properly"

2. When measuring the battery with the engine on, the battery is on 14.2v (charging state from what i have read, meaning the alternator works). But after driving the car, turning the engine off and turning the ignition on. The battery low warning comes on in like 5 minutes. (already replaced and coded battery with a new one so it isn't that) Run the engine and note the pressure. I’m not exactly sure off the top of my head, but you should get something like 60-90psi on that engine. Shut down and you should hold some pressure. Might drop to something like 40 initially. A good check valve, you will see fuel pressure raise as the engine hot soaks.

It is much more than that and more complicated. It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain .
